Services Offered

I offer a range of Mindfulness Meditation services, from introductory workshops, 8 week  courses, weekly group meditation sessions, and one day workshops or retreats. These offerings complement one another. Individually, they are all of great value. Together, they can help you so much more.

Introductory presentations:

  • An introductory workshop/presentation is just that.  It will give you a better understanding about Mindfulness – what it is and what it can do for you, and what you need to do to reap the benefits. It is an opportunity to have all your questions and concerns addressed.
  • Check the calendar on this website, or send an email or call to see if there are any ones scheduled in the future.
  • Or, if you like, I can give an introductory presentation for your work or social group. I guarantee you’ll find it very interesting.

Eight to ten week courses:

  • The mainstay in how I teach meditation skills if with an 8 to 10 week courses. Participants attend a weekly class – typically 2 – 2 1/2 hours long. And they are expected to do about 30 minutes of homework every day. The homework exercises are modified each week to gently, but firmly help them develop the skills of Mindfulness in an efficient and effective manner. Not unlike physical exercise, the benefits are not immediate – it takes practice over time for the benefits to become apparent. Most of the benefits measured by scientific research on Mindfulness, as well as our own data, has been based on eight week programs.

Weekly Group Guided Meditation Sessions:

  • This is simply an opportunity to get together with other meditators to meditate together. The motivation to meditate daily is difficult to maintain. Being part of a group that comes together weekly helps to maintain a higher level of motivation.

Workshops/Retreats:

  • One day or longer workshops/retreats have the benefit of advancing one’s meditation skills more quickly. They provide an opportunity to build some momentum that is difficult to do with daily practice.  A useful analogy is that of playing music. It is useful to take a course – classes to learn how to play an instrument. The daily practice is like practicing the scales or homework piece to master certain skills. Practicing with others may make it more enjoyable and boosts motivation. The workshops/retreats are like an orchestra rehearsing. This isn’t a perfect analogy, but close enough.

Personal coaching/counseling:

  • Some people can’t or don’t want to be part of a group. There could be many reasons for this such as the desire for confidentiality, or scheduling problems that make it difficult to attend regularly scheduled classes. In these cases, personal coaching may be a preferred option.  Personal coaching also has other advantages over group instruction. One-on-one instruction is interactive and can be tailored to the specific learning needs of the individual. Blockages to progress can be more readily identified and dealt with. Topics that may not be addressed in group settings, can be discussed. The schedule also has a great deal more flexibility in that meetings can be booked at the mutual convenience of student and teacher.  Some sessions can even be conducted over the  phone when face to face meetings are not possible.
